one of most common assassin bugs in Galveston Co. area. Photo by William Johnson, Galveston County in La Marque on January 26, 2004. The plant was a hibiscus (and there were at least 11 Zelus longipes on the plant. This surprised me as they are typically more solitary in their habits. However, one pair was mating and one very fat assassin bug was sucking the contents of a nymph stage assassin bug!
