Structural Pest Control Service

Description

New Agency Regulating Pest Control in Texas

Content

New Structural Pest Control Service
AUSTIN, TX. Effective Sept. 1, the Structural Pest Control Board became the Structural Pest Control Service (SPCS), under the authority of the Texas Department of Agriculture. This change will affect the thousands of structural pesticide applicator license holders, as well as consumers who seek information or want to report a complaint concerning a pest control or lawn care service.
The principal change for consumers will be a new website and a new toll-free phone number, 866-918-4481.

The Structural Pest Control Service is the state agency responsible for licensing of pest control and commercial landscape maintenance companies that apply pesticides. Any complaints about pest control or lawn care services involving pesticides should be directed to the new Structural Pest Control Service.

Prior to this change the Structural Pest Control Board was an independent state administrative agency with its own rule-making board. Now all licensing and enforcement duties will be under the authority of the Commissioner of Agriculture and the new service Director, Jim Muse.
